IS it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a bit of muck on the camera lens?

Stroud Life reader Pete Llewellyn reckons not, and can't explain the shape in the sky that his camera picked up.

He only noticed the UFO when he took a second look at the photograph he had taken earlier.

"I did not see it at the time and have only just noticed it," said Pete, who sent the photograph to Stroud Life in the hope that other readers might have seen the same object in the skies above the five valleys.

"It was taken on March 13 looking towards Sheepscombe, just below Painswick Golf club."

Reports of UFOs in the Stroud area are nothing new – on May 22, 2010, a resident called police to say an alien's car parked on his driveway.

In 2008, a Stroud resident told police he had seen 10 UFOs.

The officer reported in May of that year: "Caller states that his wife and son saw them too. They made no sound. Seemed to be below cloud level."

And in 2006, a strange bright disc hovering above Cainscross baffled residents.

One who alerted the UFO group Contact International UK reckoned it was travelling at about 40mph.

However, police later said they had been told three flares were let off on nearby Selsley Common.

Clouds are fascinating, and watching them from my lounge window I can see when clouds are blowing from an easterly direction that we are in for VERY BAD WEATHER pretty soon -- soon being within 48 hours. I have seen weather balloons drop through the clouds but have never seen one close up, checking the internet about weather balloons is also interesting.

QwertyOS, UK airspace is busy enough with commercial enough without all these Aliens visiting as well ;). Do these illegal aliens have work visa's... I bet they are only coming here to get free housing and benefits as well.... ;)

Lecorche, I have been watching that link for half an hour, and will never fly again. Did not realise just how congested the sky is. It frightened the bejezes out of me.

Considering the position the photo was taken from, It is quite likely an aircraft flying high level on the UN14 airway that runs overhead.... a quick trip to the link Lecorche posted and you can track any 'UFO's' (airliners) you may see. Just because from ground level it doesn't look like a conventional aircraft and that its shape may be obscured by relections from the sun or having the sun behind it - it doesn't automaticly mean that H.G Wells was correct and that across the gulf of space, intellects vast, cool and unsympathetic, regard the earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely draw their plans against us......................
