MAIDENHILL School pupil Skye Brownlow has been named as the winner of the Stonehouse Goodwill Fest poster competition.

First she triumphed in the 12 to 16 years category and was then chosen as the best of the three age group winners.

Now her design is being turned into the official poster for the Goodwill Fest on December 1.

The winner in each age group was awarded a £25 cash prize with a second place prize of £10.

As overall winner, Skye gets an additional cash prize of £25 and will be invited to help Father Christmas turn on the Christmas lights during the Goodwill Fest in the High Street.

Festivities run from 2pm to 6pm. The competition prizes are courtesy of Jamie Dickson, Delta Nine IT. The contest was run by Stonehouse Community Partnership in conjunction with Stroud Life.

The judges were Stroud Life editor Jason Chare and Stroud Life Young Businessperson of the Year Lucy Bourne.

OMG as they say, not only do we have Winter Festival and Christingle we've now got Goodwill Fest. Is this a PC way of describing Christmas, after all, the name Christ doesn't appear anywhere? I suppose anyone living in Stonehouse will have to greet their neighbours with Happy Goodwill Fest from now on, really rolls off the tongue that one!
